Where do I start? So I am a 30 year old South African who was born in Zimbabwe. Grew up in LA (Lower Alberton), attended Jeppe High school for Boys (best school in the world) and went to university at what was formerly known as Rand Afrikaans University, now the University of Johannesburg.
I have known I wanted to be a journalist/reporter since I was around 10 after a teach made some comment suggesting it as a possibility. Oh why could she not have said laywer, doctor or succesfull dictator?
Have worked a number of jobs ranging from newspaper delivery boy, sandwich maker, summer camp guy, PRO for a motor racing venue, rugby journo, bike salesman, teachers assistant and IT journalist.
I have lived in South Africa, the US, London and Dubai. Been stuck in a bunch of other places in between. Right now I am in Nairobi, Kenya working as an unpaid intern with a compnay called a24 media trying to set up a newspaper type website.
What I really want is to be a foreign correspondent/war journo. Yes I want to go to Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sudan, Somalia and many more places. How can you ever know if you don’t go.
